Starlight Park Greenway Project Extends Green Ribbon Along Bronx River

WHERE: On the western banks of the Bronx River, just south of the 174th St. Bridge, Bronx, NY

WHAT: A ceremonial groundbreaking to mark the start of construction on a $17 million project to build the next phase of the Bronx River Greenway.

WHO: NYSDOT Acting Commissioner Stanley Gee will be joined by

Congressman Joseph Crowley; State Senator Ruben Diaz; Assembly members Peter Rivera and Marcos Crespo; City Council Members Joel Rivera and Annabel Palma; New York City Department of Parks and the General Contractors of New York.

DIRECTIONS: From Manhattan and the South Bronx:

Take the FDR Drive north to Exit 17 for the RFK/Triboro Bridge. From the bridge, take Exit 47 for the Bruckner Express/I-278 East. Go approximately two miles to Exit 49 for the Sheridan Expressway/I-895. Take the Westchester Avenue exit and stay on Edgewater Road. The event site is 600 yards up on the right, just past the Best Western Bronx Inn.

Subway/Bus:

Take the 6 subway line to Whitlock Avenue, crossing to the north side of Westchester Avenue. Walk east on Westchester Ave., then north on Edgewater Road 600 yards to the event site. Alternatively, take the 2/5 subway lines to 174th St., walking east on E.174th St. At the bridge just east of West Farms Road, take the pedestrian ramps down to the park. The event site is 350 yards south along Edgewater Road.
