Housing Foreclosure Prevention Providers Address Foreclosure Issues in Long Island Housing Counselors and Legal Service Providers Offer Free, Quality Assistance to Homeowners
The New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal is holding a regional meeting of housing counselors and legal service providers who offer free assistance to Long Island homeowners at risk of foreclosure. This is one of six regional meeting being held across the state.
Attendees will receive information on the new federal Homeowner Affordability Plan, the NYS Subprime Lending Act of 2008, and Mandatory Settlement Conferences.

WHO:
- Deborah VanAmerongen, Commissioner, New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal will discuss the free resources available to homeowners as part of the New York State Subprime Foreclosure Prevention Program, which has funded 64 programs across the state.
-Jane Azia, Director of Non-Depository Institutions and Consumer Protection, New York State Banking Department will provide an overview of the new federal Homeowner Affordability and Stability Plan.
-Kirsten Keefe, Empire Justice Center will provide information on the NYS Subprime Lending Reform Act of 2008 and Mandatory Settlement Conferences.
-A Panel discussion on Mandatory Settlement Conferences will be moderated by Kirsten Keefe. Panelists will include Eileen Anderson of CDC of Long Island, Michael Wigutow of the Nassau Suffolk Law Services Committee, and Colleen Fondulis of the 10th Judicial District of the State of New York.
