Project and Plans for Passenger Rail Service Improvements

WHAT: Prior to the public information and scoping meeting about the New York State High Speed Rail Empire Corridor Project, we invite you as a member of the media for a walkthrough of the materials and information that will be presented during the public meeting during the evening hours.

The High Speed Rail Empire Corridor Project is examining how to improve passenger rail service across the state, introducing passenger train speeds of at least 110 miles per hour between Schenectady and Niagara Falls and adding to the areas between Schenectady and New York City where passenger trains can travel at least 110 miles per hour. The project also seeks to improve reliability, travel times, and the frequency (number of trains) of passenger rail service.

DIRECTIONS: From the Adirondack Northway (I-87), take Exit 2E for Route 5 East/Wolf Road, towards Albany.

Take Wolf Road north past Colonie Center shopping mall and turn right onto Sand Creek Road.

Go through a roundabout, traveling a total of .9 miles. Sand Creek Middle School will be on the left.
