The State Board for Historic Preservation is an independent panel of experts whose function is to advise and provide recommendations on state and federal preservation programs to the State Parks Commissioner, New York’s State Historic Preservation Officer. The board meets four times a year and the meetings are open to the public.
The Board will review and make recommendations on properties for nomination to the State and National Registers of Historic Places. The Registers are the official lists of buildings, structures, districts, landscapes, objects and sites significant in the history, architecture, archeology and culture of New York and the nation.
The Norrie Point Environmental Center is situated on the shoreline of the Hudson River in Margaret Lewis Norrie State Park in Staatsburg, a short distance from Mills Mansion State Historic Site. The park entrance is off Route 9 between Rhinebeck and Hyde Park.
