Press Briefing Call: State Foreclosure Prevention Working Group Report

On behalf of the State Foreclosure Prevention Working Group, the Conference of State Bank Supervisors will host a telephone press briefing at 10 a.m. (EDT), Tuesday, April 22, to report on the second data report on performance of subprime mortgage servicing. The report quantifies loss mitigation efforts reported by 13 major residential mortgage servicers. Note: A copy of the Working Group’s second report will be available at 8 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, at www.csbs.org .

This initiative is a priority of the State Foreclosure Prevention Working Group, a joint effort of state attorneys general, two state bank regulators, and CSBS. The Group, formed last year to share ideas on how to prevent unnecessary foreclosures, is led by Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller.

Participants in Tuesday’s briefing will be:

  • Richard Neiman, New York Superintendent of Banks
  • Mark Pearce, North Carolina Deputy Commissioner of Banks
  • John Ryan, CSBS Executive Vice President

On the call, we will provide an update on the data collection, explain how the research is being conducted, and review the aggregate data in the second report depicting loss mitigation efforts from October 2007 through and including January 2008 .
