ALBANY, NY (03/14/2013)(readMedia)-- New York State Department of Transportation Commissioner Joan McDonald will make an announcement about the Ocean Parkway-Robert Moses Traffic Circle Restoration Project on Friday, March 15 at noon at the Project Field Office, Jones Beach Fishing Pier Parking Field, Bay Parkway. Commissioner McDonald will be joined by Rose Harvey, commissioner of the Office of New York State Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation and Joe Martens, commissioner of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation .

Ocean Parkway, Robert Moses Traffic Circle and the sand dunes that protect the roadway sustained unprecedented damage during Super Storm Sandy.

Following the announcement, Commissioners McDonald, Harvey, and Martens will lead media on a tour of the progress that's been made on the restoration project. The media is encouraged to dress warmly.

Directions:

• Take Southern State Parkway to Exit 27 south, Wantagh State Parkway (WSP).

• Take WSP south past NY Route 27 Sunrise Highway and Merrick Rd. toward Jones Beach State Park.

• After the Sloop Channel Draw Bridge, bear right to head west on Bay Parkway.

• Follow brown signs to the Parking Field 10, Fishing Piers/Bait & Tackle shop. NYSDOT project field offices are located in the trailers on the eastern end of the parking field
