Media Invite 488th Military Police Training

AUGUSTA, ME (08/11/2015)(readMedia)-- The Portland Police Department with Maine Army National Guard's 488th Military Police Company is taking advantage of the unit's annual training period to work together this week in an exercise named RESURGAM.
WHO: The media is invited at 3:00pm on Wednesday to tour the training area for one hour. The media will have an opportunity to speak with some of the participants and view the training area.
WHAT: Exercise RESURGAM is a two day joint training that tests the abilities of the Portland police and the 488th Military Police to work and communicate together in a stressful environment. The exercise scenario is a fictitious public health crisis where an Avian Flu has reduced the available officer strength of the department by more than 25%. The National Guard has been requested to help local authorities secure, transport and distribute medical supplies to our population that has been adversely affected by the flu epidemic.
