Medical Billing & Coding
The Medical Billing & Coding Micro-Credential is comprised of four courses: Medical Terminology (OFT116), Introduction to Health Insurance (OFT150), Medical Billing & Coding I and II (OFT 155 and OFT 255) taken part-time, online over 2 semesters.
Topics covered in these four courses include:
Medical terminology utilized in various health care situations
Students will understand the legal and ethical side of health insurance, types of health insurance, HIPPA guidelines, the health insurance claims process and reimbursement.
Procedure terminology and Common Procedure Coding Systems (HCPCS)
Diagnostic coding with an emphasis on the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10) classification system.
Submitting insurance claims, as well as trouble-shooting rejected claims
