ALBANY, NY (12/04/2008)(readMedia)-- The Mendelssohn Club of Albany will perform its traditional holiday concert at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 12th at The Egg in Albany, NY.
A Capital Region tradition since 1909, the 70-voice male chorus is the area's longest continuously performing arts group. An evening of both classical and popular holiday music is planned, and the concert offers a perfect way for Capital Region residents to welcome the holiday season.
The club's guest for the evening will be the gifted and versatile baritone, Mr. Donnie Ray Albert. Mr. Albert has performed in a variety of roles in grand opera works by Wagner, Verdi, and Puccini in opera companies throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Japan and South America. Presently Artist in Residence at Columbia College's Center for Black Music Research in Chicago, Mr. Albert also has appeared as a concert artist with major orchestras in Israel, Germany, and Austria, as well as the renowned symphony and philharmonic orchestras of Los Angeles, Cincinnati, Dallas, and Chicago.

The Mendelssohn Club is conducted by Dr. Victor Klimash. Dr. Klimash is a faculty member at Union College and holds a Doctor of Music in Voice from Florida State University, and Master's and Bachelor's degrees in Voice from The Eastman School of Music. Pianist Michael Clement serves as the Club's accompanist. Mr. Clement was trained at the Eastman School of Music, the University of Arizona, and the University of Southern California.
