MACON, GA (11/22/2011)(readMedia)-- Mercer University honored Forsyth resident Eli Morgan with its 2011 Alumni Meritorious Service Award on Nov. 12 at the University's Homecoming celebration. The award is given to an alumnus or alumna of Mercer who has demonstrated his or her support of the Alumni Association and the University through their contribution of time, talents and financial resources.

Morgan serves as a claims manager for State Farm Insurance Co. in Macon and as president of the College of Liberal Arts Alumni Association. He is also a member of Mercer's Executive Forum and has been a committee member for Mercer's Advancing the Vision Campaign, as well as supporting the Mercer Athletic Foundation. He previously served as president of Mercer's President's Club.

Morgan graduated from Mercer's College of Liberal Arts in 1983 and went to work with State Farm, while also volunteering with Mercer's Upward Bound Program. In 1994, he chaired a group of faculty and alumni that started the Minority Student Scholarship Fund at Mercer.
