MANCHESTER, NH (03/27/2012)(readMedia)-- Alyssa Hatem, a senior politics major at Saint Anselm College, received the All Region Attorney award at the American Mock Trial Association's regional tournament hosted by Saint Anselm College on February 19. Hatem is the daughter of Thomas and Diane Hatem, of Methuen, Mass., and a graduate of Central Catholic High School.
Hatem co-founded Saint Anselm College's Mock Trial Team in 2009 and has served as president and captain since. In three years, the team has celebrated victories at past tournaments and earned respect from the mock trial community.
"Receiving this award shows me that although our team has only existed for three years, Saint Anselm can compete strongly," Hatem says.
Hatem has been competing in Mock Trial since high school. "Mock Trial has taught me about much more than courtroom decorum. I have learned how to properly construct an argument, gained public speaking and negotiation skills, strengthened my determination, and, most importantly, developed as a leader."
Hatem will continue to use these skills following her graduation from Saint Anselm College this spring. She hopes to attend law school or pursue a career in the political field.
