Miami athlete named to All-American Team

Collegiate Baseball announced its 2019 Freshmen All-American Team powered by Diamond on Wednesday. For Miami, earning Freshman All-American honors was pitcher Sam Bachman.

Bachman was previously honored as the Mid-American Conference Freshman Pitcher of the Year and selected to the All-MAC First Team as part of a tremendous rookie campaign. He made 15 appearances (14 starts) on the season. Bachman had a 7-1 record with a 3.93 ERA and 75 strikeouts in 75.2 innings pitched. Opponents hit only .229 against him. In MAC games, Bachman was even better, finishing with a 4-1 record, a 2.96 ERA and 51 strikeouts in 51.2 innings pitched.

Bachman is the 11th Miami baseball player all-time to earn Freshmen All-America status. He is the first since Cole Gnetz in 2016.
