Michael Earns Academic All-MAC Honors

Alvernia University Field Hockey junior Ava Michael earned Academic All-MAC honors for her performance on the field and in the classroom, as announced on Monday by the Middle Atlantic Conference.

The MAC sports information directors nominate and vote for the Academic All-MAC teams, giving 50 percent weight on both academic success and athletic success. A student-athlete must have a fall semester grade-point average (GPA) of 3.20 or higher to be eligible for the award.

Michael, a junior majoring in nursing, joins 11 other field hockey student-athletes across the MAC to earn the honor.

Michael was a 2025 First Team NFHCA All-Region honoree and was the 2025 MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Year. Michael had a career-year for the Golden Wolves, starting and playing in all 19 of Alvernia's games this season.

Michael earned First Team NFHCA All-Region in Region Five. This is the second straight season that Michael has earned All-Region honors. She was a second team honoree in 2024. She finished the year with 18 goals and five assists. Michael had five game-winning goals this season and had five multi-goal games. She scored two or more points in 11 of Alvernia's 19 games. Michael's 41 points and 18 goals are both the most by an Alvernia Field Hockey player since 2016 when Margaret Wentzel recorded 59 points and scored 19 goals.

Michael led the MAC Commonwealth in goals scored, scoring four more than the second leading goal-scorer in the conference. She also led the MAC Commonwealth in total points with 41, finishing with nine more points than the second leading point scorer. Her average of 0.85 goals per game ranked her 24th in the nation, and her 2.16 points per game also ranked her 27th in the nation.
