Michael Good directs two one-act plays at Lock Haven University

LOCK HAVEN, PA (03/12/2012)(readMedia)-- LOCK HAVEN, PA-  Lock Haven University is about to open the spring season with a student- produced show. Michael Good, a sophomore theatre major at LHU, will be directing two one-act plays by Anton Chekhov: "The Boor" and "The Proposal." The shows will run from March 21 to March 24 starting at 7:30 p.m. in the Countdown Theatre, located in Sloan Fine Arts Building on campus in room 321. 

Good, a resident of Elkins, W.Va., explained why he chose these two shows. "I was always intrigued by the plots because my old director used to mention the plays and characters, and would quote them all the time," he said. "So when I learned about student directing I jumped at the opportunity with these two shows in mind." He added that the rehearsal process has gone smoothly with minimal problems, giving the credit to the great cast and crew working on the production. "They come every day hyped up and ready to go."

When asked what makes this production different, Good responded that he feels he has adapted the scripts well and has made them more appropriate for most audiences, given the mild adult themes in the shows. The performances are set as farces, which Good described as "beyond realistic and serious comedy." "The hardest part of the process," he said, "was getting the actors to go over the top."

The shows will run March 21, 22, 23, and 24 at 7:30 p.m. Doors will open at 7 pm.
