PHILADELPHIA, PA (03/31/2014)(readMedia)-- With more than 15 years of project management experience, Michele Albert has been named director of university events at University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. Albert is no stranger to the University, having served as an event planner and previous catering director since her arrival in 2006.
"Michele's enthusiasm, attention to detail, and warm manner with students, faculty, staff and guests alike, made her the definitive choice for our next director of university events," said Carrie Collins, vice president of institutional advancement at USciences.
In her new role, Albert will have oversight for all aspects of USciences' comprehensive event planning strategy, which aligns with the University's priorities for enrollment management, fundraising, and community outreach. More specifically, she will be responsible for providing leadership and professional expertise in the planning and implementation of the University's key events, such as convocation and commencement ceremonies, guest speakers, and alumni reunion.
During her time at USciences, Albert has been a key contact in the University's event department, managed the University's Advances in Pharmacy Practice symposium series, and organized outside groups' usage of USciences facilities. She has also played a role in several high profile events, including the Obama re-election campaign stop by first lady Michelle Obama, and the Healthcare Fraud Summit featuring U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius.
Albert, of Gilbertsville, Pa., received an AS in culinary arts from The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College, as well a certification in meeting planning from Temple University. She is a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) as recognized by the Convention Industry Council. Beyond her career at USciences, Albert also boasts years of professional event planning experience in the food and corporate industries.
