Michigan Tech Nominates Ben Malec for Goldwater Scholarship
HOUGHTON, MI (01/27/2012)(readMedia)-- Michigan Technological University has nominated Ben Malec, a 2009 graduate of Buffalo Grove High School, for a 2012 Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship.
Goldwater Scholarships are among the most prestigious awards available for US undergraduates in science and engineering. Recipients receive up to $7,500 to cover eligible expenses for undergraduate tuition, fees, books, and room and board.
As part of the application process, Malec, a junior majoring in physics, submitted a research proposal. He tracks particles in a turbulent fluid in which gravitational settling plays a role. He hopes to apply what he learns to better understand the behavior of clouds.
