Accepting a check on behalf of the Red Cross was Metro New York North chapter CEO Mary Young.

"As part of Millennium Pipeline's continuing mission to support the communities in which we operate, we are honored to be able to give back and support those in need," said Millennium President, Rocco D'Alessandro.

"The response to Sandy is likely to the biggest Red Cross response in the U.S. in the past five years," said Mary Young, CEO of Red Cross Metro, New York. "Millennium Pipeline Company's generous gift will ensure that the Red Cross will be able to provide critical services to our neighbors in need including shelter , food and emotional support. We are so grateful for their support ."

"We wanted to be sure that while so much attention is being focused-with good reason-- on New York City and New Jersey, that the people of Orange and Rockland Counties who were also hit hard by Hurricane Sandy are not overlooked," said D'Alessandro. "The Red Cross has done an outstanding job of supporting regional shelters and helping families in need. Our intent with this donation is to help support these efforts."

"We encourage others in Rockland and Orange Counties to remember the work of the Red Cross and other emergency response organizations here locally," said D'Alessandro.
