Zuleica Ventura, a 2023 graduate of Reading High School and a junior majoring in communication studies at Millersville University, has been selected as the recipient of a scholarship from the Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Organization for Student Success, which supports student persistence and academic success.
Ventura was nominated by her academic success coach, Dee Rapp, who praised her perseverance and growth throughout her academic journey. "Zuleica has demonstrated remarkable resilience in overcoming the challenges she has faced," Rapp says. "I have witnessed her consistent growth and development, and I was especially proud to see her hard work recognized through her achievement of Dean's List honors last spring. It is a privilege to support her throughout her journey, and I cannot think of a more deserving recipient for this scholarship."
Ventura began her studies at Millersville University as an undeclared/exploratory student. Through her work with Rapp and Dr. Kristen Lawson, chair of exploratory studies and student development, Ventura discovered her passion, which led her to declare a major in communications with a concentration in public relations.
With a career goal of working in sports marketing, Ventura has successfully connected her academic interests with meaningful professional experiences. In addition to her coursework, she is employed by Campus Recreation as a club sports supervisor, allowing her to develop skills that align with her future career aspirations.
