Millersville University Announces First Place Winners of Brossman Science Lectureship Competition

MILLERSVILLE, PA (11/07/2011)(readMedia)-- Brody Troutman, of Windsor, Pa., and Matthew Suggs, of Red Lion, Pa., from Red Lion Area Senior High School, placed first in the Brossman Science Lectureship Competition held at Millersville University of Pennsylvania on November 3. The 27th annual Brossman Science Lecture, with participation from 28 high schools, includes a competitive examination for high school sophomore and junior science and mathematics students.

Awards were given to students within the top three high schools who participated in the competition. Second place went to Yanqi-Tyson Chen and Max Lupfer from Central York High School; and third place went to Anthony Wittemann and Mason Emmert from Lampeter-Strasburg High School.

The winners were recognized and received their awards at 7 p.m. during the Brossman Lecture given by Dr. Edith Widder, deep sea explorer and biologist. Widder also cofounded the Ocean Research & Conservation Association (ORCA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to the protection and restoration of marine ecosystems.
