Millersville University Announces Homecoming Charity "Royalty"

Students Raise $15,323

MILLERSVILLE, PA (10/31/2011)(readMedia)-- Service projects, charity work and community and civic engagement are important to many students at Millersville University of Pennsylvania. This was shown on Saturday, October 29 when Millersville crowned Richie Ryan Mauck, of Harrisburg, Pa., and Kaila Folk, of York, Pa., its 2011 Charity King and Queen on Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium during halftime of the football game, as part of the University's homecoming festivities.

The charity king and queen are student representatives nominated by their University organization to raise funds for a charity organization. During the months leading to homecoming, students, faculty and staff donate time and money for the various charities. The male and female nominees who raise the most funds are rightfully named king and queen. This year, the six candidates for charity king and queen raised a total of $15,323.90 for their respective charities.

Mauck was named charity king for raising $790 for the Teach for America charity on behalf of Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity. Representing Alpha Xi Delta, Folk, was named charity queen for raising more than $8,500 for Autism Speaks. The runner-up for queen was Madeline Reitz of Birdsboro, Pa., who raised over $2,800 as part of University Activities Board and will donate the money to Love 146.

In addition to Mauck and Folk, the court includes:

• Madeline Reitz--University Activities Board, Birdsboro, Pa.,

• Bethany Scull--Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority, Reading, Pa.,

• Corinne Snyder--Delta Zeta Sorority and Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, Levittown, Pa., and

• Madalyn Weaver--Sigma Phi Delta Sorority, Leola, Pa.
