MANKATO, MN (01/14/2010)(readMedia)-- The Minnesota Soybean Research & Promotion Council (MSR&PC) is currently seeking applicants for the 2010 Soybean Ambassador Program.
Now in its second year, the Soybean Ambassador program allows three young Minnesotans (over the age of 18) the opportunity to earn scholarship dollars while participating in a variety of events to promote the soybean industry
Each ambassador will receive a $1,500 scholarship with the chance to earn extra stipends by completing additional tasks. Most importantly, they will build leadership skills, network with members of the ag industry and add unique and valuable experiences to their repertoire.
Last year's Soybean Ambassadors provided assistance at events like Farmfest, Soybean Day at the State Fair, the Biodiesel Open and state and county board meetings. They were also required to take part in the Minnesota Ag Ambassador Institute, which is scheduled for June 2010.
Applications and program information can be found online at www.mnsoybean.org as well as by calling 888-896-9678. Deadline to apply is March 15, 2010. Interviews will be held in April with duties set to begin in May.
The Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council is made up of an elected board of 15 soybean producers from across the state. The mission of the council is to invest soybean checkoff dollars in well-defined research, marketing, education and commercialization programs designed to increase demand and thereby improve the profitability of Minnesota's soybean farmers.
