NWCC's Women's Soccer Win Historic National Championship

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (Nov. 24, 2024) - The Northwest Mississippi Community College women's soccer team capped a storybook season by capturing its first-ever NJCAA Division II National Championship, finishing with a perfect 22-0 record.

From the outset of the campaign, the Lady Rangers established themselves as the nation's top team. They swept through the regular season to claim the MACCC Championship, then added the NJCAA Region 23 title before embarking on a historic postseason run. In the championship match, Northwest earned a convincing 2-0 victory, becoming the first NJCAA Division II women's soccer program to finish undefeated since 2020.

Under the guidance of head coach James Beattie, who became the program's all-time winningest coach this year, Northwest outscored opponents by a wide margin and produced numerous shutout victories. The Lady Rangers' blend of attacking firepower and disciplined defense proved too much for the competition, culminating in the first national crown for the Senatobia-based program.
