ALBANY, NY (01/29/2016)(readMedia)-- William H. Rooney of New York City has been honored with the William T. Lifland Service Award, presented by the New York State Bar Association's Antitrust Law Section.
Rooney (Willkie Farr & Gallagher) received the award during the Bar Association's Annual Meeting in New York City January 28. The award is presented to antitrust practitioners in recognition of their contributions and accomplishments in the field of antitrust.
"Bill is a worthy recipient of the section's annual Lifland Award," said Lisl Dunlop, chair of the Antitrust Law Section. "Through his wonderful work as section chair, his ongoing energetic promotion and development of the section's fall symposium, as well as his mentorship of junior members of the antitrust bar, he embodies some of the best qualities of Bill Lifland, after whom this award is named."
Rooney is a partner in his firm's litigation department and chair of its antitrust practice group. He specializes in civil and criminal antitrust matters, including cross-border matters, before the courts and antitrust enforcement agencies.
Rooney handles litigations, mergers, investigations and counseling in matters under the Sherman Act (contracts in restraint of trade and monopolization), the Clayton Act (mergers and acquisitions), and state antitrust and deceptive trade practice laws.
He earned degrees from the University of Notre Dame, Yale Law School and a diploma in law from the University of Oxford.
The New York State Bar Association, with 74,000 members, is the largest voluntary state bar association in the country. It was founded in 1876.
