NYISO Names Douglas L. Chapman Chief Information Officer

RENSSELAER, NY (08/04/2015)(readMedia)-- The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) has named Douglas L. Chapman as Vice President and Chief Information Officer.

As the NYISO CIO, Mr. Chapman will lead the Information Technology department, which delivers IT products and services to evolve NYISO's wholesale electricity markets; develops, deploys and maintains NYISO software; supports and maintains the NYISO communications systems and computing infrastructure; and maintains NYISO physical facilities and enterprise security.

"Doug Chapman has an outstanding record of achievement in information technology supporting electric system grid operations and wholesale electricity markets. His first-hand knowledge of ISO/RTO responsibilities and his history of work in New York's electric system make him superbly qualified to serve as the NYISO's Chief Information Officer," said NYISO President and CEO Stephen G. Whitley.

Mr. Chapman has nearly three decades of experience in the electric utility industry. Prior to joining the NYISO, he served as Executive Director of IT Infrastructure for the Mid-Continent Independent Transmission System Operator (MISO) since 2012. He previously held the Vice President of Information Technology role and other leadership positions for National Grid. He began his electric utility career with National Grid's predecessor, Niagara Mohawk.

Mr. Chapman earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Buffalo's School of Engineering and a Master of Science in Computer Engineering from the Syracuse University College of Engineering.
