RENSSELAER, N.Y. (01/16/2014)(readMedia)-- The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) has named Emilie Nelson as its new Vice President of Market Operations.
As Vice President of Market Operations, Ms. Nelson will be responsible for the NYISO's Installed Capacity Market Operations, Demand Response Operations, and Operations Performance and Analysis departments.
"Emilie Nelson has led vital efforts to successfully integrate innovative market design with reliable operation of the grid. Her first-hand knowledge of wholesale electricity markets and bulk electric system operation, combined with her engineering expertise and management skills, make her very well-qualified to serve as the NYISO's Vice President of Market Operations," said NYISO President and CEO Stephen G. Whitley.
Ms. Nelson, who has worked in the electric power industry for 15 years, was promoted to the new position from her role as NYISO's Director of Operations. During her tenure with the NYISO, she has held various roles in market monitoring, energy market design, and the operation of wholesale electricity markets. Prior to joining the NYISO in 2004, she worked in the power generation field for Mirant New York, as a power plant performance engineer.
Ms. Nelson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University and a Master of Business Administration from Pace University.
