NYS AG Schneiderman Sides with Leaseholders in Gas Industry Fight over Force Majeure
ALBANY, NY (06/14/2012)(readMedia)-- In response to New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman's announcement that the state has reached an agreement with gas industry giant Chesapeake Appalachia, Environmental Advocates of New York issued the following statement, attributable to Executive Director Robert Moore:
"In every corner of the nation, the gas industry has played fast and loose with the truth. Chesapeake Appalachia's attempts to use force majeure to bind New Yorkers into unfair leases on their land is just today's example.
The agreement announced by New York Attorney General Schneiderman sends the gas industry a strong message--New York is prepared to hold you accountable."
