NYS Comptroller DiNapoli to Join Big Push for Top Environmental Priorities on 22nd Annual Earth Day Lobby Day

Advocates Will Join Key Elected Leaders on April 25 to Rally Support for Passage of "Super Bills"

ALBANY, NY (04/25/2012)(readMedia)-- Scores of advocates and key lawmakers will converge on the Capitol on April 25th for the 22nd annual Earth Day Lobby Day. Advocates will urge their Assembly Members and Senators to adopt the environmental community's five priority Super Bills-a long-term and robust plan for solar energy, improve conservation funding, protect children's health, fight climate change and safeguard the environment from the dangers of industrial gas drilling called "fracking."

Speakers include Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, State Senator Mark Grisanti and Assembly Member Robert Sweeney.

Environmentalists from across New York State will join host organizations, including the Adirondack Council, Adirondack Mountain Club, Alliance for New York State Parks, Audubon New York, Catskill Citizens for Safe Energy, Catskill Mountainkeeper, Citizens Campaign for the Environment, Clean and Healthy New York, Environmental Advocates of New York, Environment New York, Natural Resources Defense Council, New York Interfaith Power and Light, New York League of Conservation Voters, New York Public Interest Research Group, Open Space Institute, Pace Energy & Climate Center, Public Employees Federation Division 169, Riverkeeper, Scenic Hudson, Sierra Club, The Nature Conservancy, Sullivan Area Citizens for Responsible Energy Development, the Tri-State Transportation Campaign and Westchester for Change.

WHAT:

New York faces a wide range of complex environmental challenges. Earth Day Lobby Day engages New Yorkers from across the state for this day of direct advocacy for a healthier planet and a clean-energy future. Their work will emphasize the importance of environmental issues and the critical role lawmakers play in addressing them.
