RENSSELAER, NY (04/24/2008)(readMedia)-- The New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) will hold job fairs on two consecutive Fridays, April 25 and May 2, to fill several openings for Youth Division Aide 4 positions at its Tryon Girls Secure facility in Johnstown, Fulton County.

OCFS is seeking dynamic, caring adults to provide structure and guidance to youth who have been remanded to OCFS care and custody by the courts. Salary for this grade 14 position is $40,394 - $49,060.

There are several ways to meet the minimum qualifications for the job, including: two years’ experience in the care and programming of youth under 21 years of age; two years of fulltime experience in the care, programming and/or secure custody of residential clients in a health care, mental hygiene or correctional institutional setting; an associate’s degree and six months’ experience; a bachelor’s degree; or a satisfactory equivalent combination of the above education and experience. Successful applicants must meet physical and medical standards, and undergo a fingerprint background check.

Responsibilities of a YDA-4 include leading counseling groups as well as providing individual counseling; helping youth develop good personal hygiene, manners, work and study habits; supervising youth in various activities; planning and assisting with organized recreation activities; participating in staff evaluation of youth; and assisting in establishing and maintaining relationships with youth’s families.

The fairs will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Northeastern NY Training Center, 881 County Highway 107 in Johnstown, across from the Tryon campus.
