AURORA, IL (05/31/2013)(readMedia)-- The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Men's Lacrosse All-American Teams were announced on Wednesday, May 22 by Laxpower.com with AU sophomore midfielder Max Obriecht (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North H.S.) being named Honorable Mention All-American.
The Aurora University men's lacrosse team finished the 2013 season with a school record for wins and a 16-4 overall record. The Spartans made their first appearance in the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championships in the third season of play for the program and went to the Sweet 16. AU was the 2013 regular season and tournament champions in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference and went 10-0 in the MLC regular season.
Obriecht was named the Midwest Lacrosse Conference Offensive Player of the Year and was a First-Team All-Conference selection. He led the Spartans with 53 goals while dishing out 32 assists. He had five man-up goals and went 223-of-347 in faceoff opportunities.
As of the May 12 NCAA Division III statistical rankings, Obriecht is 34th in points per game (4.25), seventh in ground balls per game (9.85) and 24th in face-off win percentage (.643).
Obriecht is the first AU men's lacrosse player in the brief history of the Spartan program to be named a Laxpower.com All-American.
