HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (09/06/2010)(readMedia)-- At Opening Convocation on Thursday, August 26, Nathan Thomas Parr, a senior at Hampden-Sydney College, received the President's Award for Academic Excellence in the Natural Sciences and Mathematics.
A Madison Scholar, Nathan serves as Vice President of the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and is a member of the Computer Science Club and the Soccer Club. He was the recipient in 2009 of the Macon Reed Award and in 2010 of the Seldon-Franke Award, both recognizing excellence in computer science. A computer science and psychology major, Nathan is a graduate of Liberty High School and is the son of Rev. Jerry M. & Liz J. Parr of Bedford and grandson of Mr. & Mrs. C.J. Jones and Mrs. Audrey Weaver, all of Salem.
