Nathan Tye Honored With Creighton University Allan M. Schleich History Award

OMAHA, NE (04/20/2011)(readMedia)-- Nathan Tye of Kearney, a senior at Creighton University, received the Allan M. Schleich Award at Creighton's Department of History Annual Honors Banquet, held on April 12. This year's banquet honored history students who excelled in their classes and were nominated by their professors.

The Allan M. Schleich Award honors Dr. Schleich, who joined the department in 1946. Over the course of his 35 years within the department, he was an avid promoter of the discipline of history, the College of Arts and Sciences, the University and the Omaha community. To him, an excellent student was distinguished by his or her academic performance as well as by his or her service to others. The award is given to a history student who, in addition to academic excellence, best reflects the exemplary qualities of the late Dr. Schleich. Criteria for the award are academic excellence and significant participation in extracurricular activities.
