LATHAM, NY (02/14/2011)(readMedia)-- Saratoga Springs businessman James Pabis, a Lt. Colonel in the New York Army National Guard, will take command of the Buffalo-based 153rd Troop Command in April.

Pabis, the founder and president of Saratoga Source, LLC, an executive search firm based in Saratoga Springs, lives in Ballston Lake with his wife Sandra and their son Chandler. He is a Hagaman native.

Currently Pabis is serving as the Provost Marshal for the Troy-based 42nd Infantry Division. As commander of the 153rd Troop Command, he will be responsible for several battalions and other units located throughout New York and will be eligible for promotion to Colonel.

He replaces Col. Reginald Sanders who will move onto command of the 369th Sustainment Brigade in Harlem.

Pabis, who is qualified as a Military Police officer, and an Army Engineer , began his military career in 1992 when he served as assistant brigade operations officer in the United States Army Reserve's 98th Division.

 He served in company command for a basic training company and staff positions in the 98th Division before joining the New York Army National Guard in 2001, where he served as Secretary to the General Staff for the Army National Guard.

He served as Brigade Engineer for the Army National Guard's 27th Infantry Brigade in Syracuse, and as commander of the 501st Ordnance Battalion (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) in Scotia. He served as Officer in Charge of the 272ND Military Police Detachment, a unit specializing in detainee operations, and served in Baghdad, Iraq for 12-months in 2006 and 2007.

Pabis holds a Bachelors Degree from Northeastern University and a Masters of Business Administration from Sage Graduate College. He is a graduate of the Army's Command and General Staff College and is currently enrolled in the Army War College.

His military awards include the Bronze Star, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Meritorious Unit Citation, the Combat Action Badge, the Global War on Terrorism Campaign Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, several Army Commendation Medals and Army Achievement Medals.
