Rockford University sophomore forward Neve Yerk has been named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Yerk becomes the first RU women's basketball player to earn a weekly award from the NACC since November 25, 2013 (Lindsay Lengjak).
Neve Yerk averaged a double-double to help lead the Regents to a 1-1 record this past week. She opened with 21 points, 7 rebounds, 3 blocks, 1 assist and 1 steal against Concordia Chicago. Yerk then concluded the week with her second double-double of the season. She poured in a career-high 36 points, 16 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 assists and 1 block in a 93-89 double-overtime win at Principia. For the week, Yerk shot 52.6% (20-of-38) from the floor and 93.8% (15-of-16) from the free throw line, while averaging 28.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals.
The RU women's basketball team returns to the court on Saturday, November 23 at MSOE. Tip-off between the Regents and Raiders is set for 6:15 PM in the Kern Center.
