NEW ROCHELLE, NY (03/07/2012)(readMedia)-- Dr. Paulette V. Starling of West Harlem has been appointed director of The College of New Rochelle School of New Resources Rosa Parks Campus in Harlem. Dr. Starling succeeds Dr. Barbara Adams.

In receiving her appointment, Dr. Starling said, "I am very excited about having an opportunity to work in the Community in which I also reside-West Harlem. This thriving and diverse campus affords students an opportunity to enroll in college and also nurtures them until they successfully earn their bachelor's degree."

Dr. Starling earned her B.A. in Psychology from the University of North Florida and her M.A. & Ed.M. in Counseling Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University. Her PhD in Counseling Psychology is from Penn State University. A New York State licensed mental health counselor, Dr. Starling has worked as an assistant professor, counselor, and as a psychologist at universities and colleges in New York and Maryland. She has also worked for New York City as an administrative director of social services in the Department of Homeless Services.

Dr. Starling is a recipient of several research grants and has published articles in a number of peer-reviewed journals and books. As a volunteer, she has been involved in her community and worked with minorities, helping them gain access to mental health and health care facilities. She has also been a volunteer mentor for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of New York City.
