New Q-Poll Shows Declining Support for Fracking in NYS Communities Likely to See Drilling

ALBANY, NY (12/21/2011)(readMedia)-- In response to the results of a new poll released by Quinnipiac University, Environmental Advocates of New York released the following statement, attributable to Katherine Nadeau, Water & Natural Resources Program Director.

"The numbers in today's Q-poll don't lie. More and more New Yorkers living in communities likely to experience industrial gas drilling called fracking don't want dirty drilling. Since August, this number has grown by nearly 10 percentage points.

Governor Cuomo and the Department of Environmental Conservation should pay close attention to these numbers and listen to New Yorkers' concerns about fracking.

Environmental Advocates of New York is confident that the more New Yorkers learn about fracking, the less they want it in their communities."
