A National Guard climbing wall like this one at a 2012 event will be at the Wayne County Fair August 12-17.

PALMYRA , NY (08/10/2013)(readMedia)-- Visitors to the Wayne County Fair will be able to test their climbing skills, while also checking out a New York Army National Guard humvee and five-ton truck if they visit the Army National Guard recruiting station at the fair.

New York Army National Guard recruiters will be on hand to help visitors climb an artificial rock wall and will also be able to talk about the role of Citizen Soldiers in the Army National Guard.

The fair runs from August 12 to August 17.

Reporters looking for a different angle on their fair coverage are invited to stop by the Army National Guard recruiting display at the fair to check out the rock wall and also talk to the Guard recruiters.

The New York Army National Guard, with a membership of about 10,500 Soldiers, is currently at 100 percent strength.

National Guard Recruiters, though, are continually seeking new Soldiers to fill job education opportunities available in units across the state. Throughout the summer months New York Army National Guard recruiters will be manning booths at county fairs to let the public and potential Soldiers know more about the force.
