AUBURN , NY (09/13/2012)(readMedia)-- The New York Army National Guard's 102nd Military Police Battalion will host World War II and Korean veterans early Friday morning at the New York State Armory here, as they prepare for a trip to Washington, D.C. to see the memorials that honor their service in those conflicts.
Members of the press are welcome to come to the armory and speak with the veterans as they prepare to depart for their trip.
WHO: Sixty-seven Cayuga County veterans of World War II and the Korean War, a New York Army National Guard Color Guard, and members of the Knights of Columbus who are sponsoring the trip.
WHAT: The veterans are being treated to a bus trip from Auburn to Washington over the weekend so they can visit the Korean War Memorial and the World War II Memorial they may never otherwise get a chance to see, along with Arlington National Cemetery. The New York Army National Guard's 102nd Military Police Battalion has volunteered the armory to serve as a place for the veterans to gather as the wait for their buses. The trip begins Friday morning, Sept. 14 and runs through Sunday, Sept. 16.
WHEN: 6:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 14, 2012. The buses are expected to leave at 7 a.m.
