New York State Dot Announces Updated Bicycle Web Site
Safety Tips and Trip Planning Information Help Cyclists Navigate
ALBANY, NY (01/10/2012)(readMedia)-- New York State Department of Transportation Commissioner Joan McDonald today announced that the department recently updated its bicycle Web site to provide timely information to the state's cyclists.
"With the growing popularity of bicycling, the New York State Department of Transportation has updated and expanded its Web site to provide cyclists with information on bicycle safety, travel tips and the state's magnificent bicycle routes," Commissioner McDonald said. "We hope this new Web site will be a valuable resource for cyclists, keeping them well informed for planning safe trips for work or recreation."
The Web site can be accessed from the department's Web page at https://www.dot.ny.gov or directly at https://www.dot.ny.gov/modal/bike.
The Web site contains a significant amount of new information intended to better serve cyclists, including which bridges spanning the St. Lawrence Seaway, Hudson or Niagara Rivers permit cyclists to cross. The Web site also provides convenient links to transit providers statewide so that cyclists who wish to utilize trains, buses, ferries or subways can determine if bicycles are permitted.
"We're glad to see more and more cyclists traveling New York State," Commissioner McDonald said. "This new Web site is one more way the State Department of Transportation is promoting mobility while supporting bicycle safety from Long Island to Buffalo and everywhere in between."
