Newman Lake Native Gives Walla Walla Businesses a Voice
WALLA WALLA, WA (10/08/2012)(readMedia)-- Newman Lake native Nick Marquiss will be working with the public policy department of the Walla Walla Valley Chamber of Commerce this year through the Whitman College Community Fellows program. He will work on the behalf of Walla Walla businesses to represent them in local government bodies and policy makers in Olympia. He also plans to focus his efforts on the economic development of Walla Walla's local industries this spring.
Marquiss is the son of Kurt Marquiss from Newman Lake, Wash. and Susan Bertel from Liberty Lake, Wash. He is a 2009 graduate of East Valley High School.
At Whitman, Marquiss is a senior Economics Major. He enjoys participating in intramural sports, going to the Whitman theatre department plays and is a working papers editor for the economics department.
