News Conference Introducing Research Report on In-State Tuition in Rhode Island

BRISTOL, RI (05/18/2011)(readMedia)-- The Latino Policy Institute at Roger Williams University will host a news conference to reveal findings from its research report on the effects of in-state college tuition for non-citizens in states implementing such legislation. This systematic review also analyzes the potential impact of similar legislation in Rhode Island.

WHO:

Kimberly Mehlman-Orozco, director of the Latino Policy Institute at Roger Williams University, will present the overall findings of the report. Sen. Juan Pichardo, sponsor of the Rhode Island’s Student Equal Opportunity Act, will deliver remarks.

WHAT:

The proposed legislation offering non-citizens living in Rhode Island in-state tuition rates is highly debated. This is the first rigorous systematic review of all original research on in-state tuition. Additionally, this is the first report to apply such research in a way that predicts the potential impact of in-state tuition on the state of Rhode Island.
