CENTER VALLEY, PA (05/21/2013)(readMedia)-- On Saturday, May 18, 2013, Mary C. O'Connor, a resident of Newton, N.J., received the DeSales University Provincial Medal at the University's 45th Commencement exercises.
O'Connor graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in nursing.
The Provincial Medal of Honor is presented annually by the provincial of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales religious order to a graduate of each Oblate school who best exemplifies the spirit of St. Francis de Sales. Eminent scholar, zealous apostle, true gentleman, St. Francis de Sales blended perfectly love of knowledge with love of God. The Oblates of St. Francis de Sales, who exist to spread that spirit, pray that the recipient of this award will continue to grow in his likeness.
DeSales University, in Center Valley, Pa., is a private, coeducational, four-year liberal arts university affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church. Founded by the Oblates of Saint Francis de Sales in 1965, the 480-acre suburban campus is located 50 miles north of Philadelphia and about 90 miles south of New York City. A total enrollment of nearly 3,000 includes undergraduate day and evening students and graduate students. DeSales has approximately 100 full-time faculty members and offers more than 35 bachelor's degrees and seven graduate programs in a wide range of disciplines.
