BATAVIA, NY (06/21/2012)(readMedia)-- Nicole Laird, a resident of Alexander, NY (14005) was among nine student-athletes from Genesee Community College who were named an NJCAA Academic Student-Athlete Award winner for the 2011-2012 athletic seasons. The NJCAA Academic Student-Athlete Awards were previously known as NJCAA Academic All-American honors. The NJCAA has renamed its academic awards program to the following: NJCAA Pinnacle Award for Academic Excellence (4.00 GPA on a 4.00 scale). NJCAA Award for Superior Academic Achievement (3.80 to 3.99 on a 4.00 scale). NJCAA Award for Exemplary Academic Achievement (3.60 to 3.79 on a 4.00 scale). Laird, a member of the women's basketball team, was named an NJCAA Award for Exemplary Academic Achievement award winner.

Genesee Community College athletics program endeavors to provide a quality and competitive intercollegiate athletics program consistent with the National Junior Collegiate Athletics Association (NJCAA) philosophy and the overall educational mission of Genesee Community College.
