Nighttime Closures scheduled for Eastbound Express E-ZPass Lanes at Warrendale Toll Plaza

Intermittent Stoppages along Mainline between Cranberry and Butler Valley

NEW STANTON, PA (08/13/2010)(readMedia)-- The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission alerts motorist of the upcoming nighttime closure of the eastbound Express E-ZPass lanes at the Warrendale Toll Plaza at Milepost 31, on Aug. 17, 18, and 23, 25, 26 between the hours of 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. On Fri., Aug. 20 the closure will be from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m. During these periods motorist will also encounter intermittent traffic stoppages of 20 minutes in length between Cranberry (Exit #28) and the Butler Valley Interchange (Exit #39). The stoppages will affect eastbound traffic only on Aug., 18, 23, 26 and both eastbound and westbound traffic on Aug., 17, 20, and 25.

Weather permitting; the traffic stoppages will allow for the delivery, staging and setting of concrete beams for three (3) bridges between mileposts 32 and 35.5. The restrictions are needed as part of the MP 31 to 38 total reconstruction project.

Message Boards will alert motorists of the closure, directing E-ZPass customers to conventional E-ZPass Only lanes to the right of the express lanes. Motorist should be aware that the conventional E-ZPass lanes have a 5 mph speed limit.

Eastbound motorist entering the Turnpike mainline may experience delays on I-79 in Butler County approaching the Turnpike ramps on these nights.
