North Bend Native Kelson Carr Honored by MIAC as Offensive Player of the Week

SAINT PAUL, MN (11/18/2011)(readMedia)-- Bethel University senior Kelson Carr of North Bend, Wash., was named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Offensive Player of the Week for his role in the Bethel football team's 42-7 win over Augsburg University on Saturday, November 12.

Carr had an unforgettable day in the final game of his career. The senior –who had 45 carries in the first nine games-racked up 116 yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries to lead the Bethel University Royals to a season-ending win and a second-place finish in the conference. For his performance, Carr was named the final MIAC Football Offensive Player of the Week.

Carr led Bethel to 312 rushing yards in the win while averaging 6.4 yards per carry, topping the 100-yard mark, and he did not record any negative yardage on any of his 18 carries. Carr scored on runs of three, six, and 15 yards to help Bethel pull away in the blowout win. This season, Carr had a very good average of 5.5 yards per carry. He ran the ball 63 times for 349 yards and four touchdowns for a Bethel team that averaged 5.7 yards per carry and racked up nearly 2,800 yards as a team on the ground.
