DECORAH, IA (04/30/2013)(readMedia)-- Luther junior Chris Norton of Altoona, Iowa was awarded the Daryl and Audrey Erdman Prizes for Entrepreneurship at the 28th annual Luther College Entrepreneurial Showcase held Tuesday, March 18 in Luther's Peace Dining Room. During the program, other awards and scholarships announced included the Accenture Scholarship and the E-Club Entrepreneurial Leadership Prize.
The Daryl and Audrey Erdman Prize honors Luther students who create, develop and manage a successful entrepreneurial enterprise. The competition is open to all full-time Luther students regardless of major.
Norton applied to help market his nonprofit foundation the SCI CAN Foundation. "It is a great honor and I am very fortunate to receive [the award] considering the other great candidates were just as deserving," said Norton.
Norton, son of Terry and Deb Norton, is a 2010 graduate of Bondurant-Farrar High School. He is majoring in business management at Luther.
The SCI CAN Foundation has the simple goal of raising money in order to provide patients with various levels of neuromuscular deficiencies equipment that would benefit them in achieving their goals.
Since the initial program in 1986, the goal of the Entrepreneurial Showcase has been to serve as an annual forum for students, faculty, alumni and friends of Luther who are interested in and support entrepreneurship.
