Oglethorpe's Lindsey Bolas earns SAA Women's Soccer Weekly Defensive Honor
Junior goalkeeper Lindsey Bolas of the Oglethorpe University women's soccer team was named the Southern Athletic Association Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week on Monday for her efforts in the team's 1-0 extra-time loss to Berry College. It marked the second such award for Bolas in 2019 and the third of her career.
A Biology major, Bolas is a graduate of Troy High School in Troy, Michigan.
Bolas enjoyed an outstanding game for the Stormy Petrels on Saturday, recording a whopping 14 saves over almost 105 minutes of play in the team's one-goal defeat. For the season, she currently sits third in the SAA in both total saves and saves per game (64 and 4.6, respectively), while playing the third-most minutes of any SAA goalkeeper (1130 minutes, 56 seconds). She also sits sixth in the conference with a 1.59 goals-against average.
She and the No. 7 seed Petrels will be back in action on Saturday at 12 p.m. Eastern, when they take on No. 2 seed Rhodes College in the first round of the SAA playoffs from Memphis, Tennessee.
