DEWITT, NY (04/12/2011)(readMedia)-- WHEN: Saturday, April 16, 9 a.m.
WHERE: Parking area at Cedar Bay off Butternut Drive in DeWitt, just north of Kinne Road, at the west end of the trail.
WHAT: The Gargyles invite volunteers to join in cleaning up along the Old Erie Canal and Canalway Trail eastward from its west end in DeWitt.

WHY: As part of the annual celebration of Earth Day, volunteers from more than 90 organizations statewide team up with New York Parks and Trails, the New York State Canal Corporation and the New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation to clean up and improve the lands around the Canal system which will reopen for navigation in the May.
