Olympian Suzanne Stettinius Receives Green Terror Sports Hall of Fame Award from McDaniel College

WESTMINSTER, MD (11/07/2012)(readMedia)-- Suzanne Stettinius of Parkton, Md., who competed in the modern pentathlon at the 2012 London Olympics, receives the Green Terror Sports Hall of Fame award from McDaniel College. She received a bachelor's degree in business administration in 2011 from McDaniel.

Presented annually during McDaniel's Homecoming, the Green Terror Sports Hall of Fame award is presented to a graduate and former athlete who has performed outstandingly as an undergraduate athlete and who has contributed to society since leaving the college.

Suzanne Stettinius competed on the Green Terror swim team as a student at McDaniel after transferring to the college in her sophomore year. After missing almost her entire junior season with a broken neck, she finished her senior year with two top swims, one in the 1,000 meters freestyle and the other in the 1,650 meters freestyle.

She was one of three Americans to compete in modern pentathlon, a five-sport event that includes swimming, running, shooting, fencing and riding, at the 2012 London Olympics. She qualified based on her performance in 2010 in Pentathlon events, from World Cup events to world championships held in Brazil, Hungary, Russia, Italy and China. Her first modern pentathlon competition was held in the Canadian Nationals in 2005 where she came in first in the juniors division, and fourth overall.
