ALBANY, NY (11/15/2007)(readMedia)-- Louis Morse of Middletown and Susan O’Connor of Washingtonville have been appointed to serve on the Family Assistance Commission (FAC) organized by the New York State Funeral Directors Association (NYSFDA) to respond to disasters occurring in New York State. As FAC members, Morse and O’Connor will interview survivors and process paperwork to assist in identifying and facilitating the release of remains to the next of kin.
They were chosen to serve on this commission due to their extensive experience as funeral directors in New York State.
A licensed funeral director for 31 years, Morse of Morse Funeral Home in Middletown has vast experience making funeral arrangements with families. In addition to his experience in assisting families as a funeral director, Morse also has 37 years of experience as a volunteer fire fighter. He served for four years as the Assistant Chief of the Silver Lake Fire District, and is currently the Third Assistant Chief of the Middletown Fire Department.
Ms. O’Connor of Walter B. Cooke Funeral Home in the Bronx has been a licensed funeral director for 24 years and has done thousands of family arrangements. She worked with victim’s families after 9/11 doing identification and preparation of remains for interment by the family funeral director.
FAC will operate under the auspices of the New York State Tribute Foundation, which is the charitable arm of NYSFDA.
