PHOENIX HOUSE, ADVOCATES TO CALL FOR FENTANYL TEST STRIPS TO BE MADE AVAILABLE AT NIGHTLIFE VENUES ACROSS CITY
BROOKLYN, NY (10/13/2021) (readMedia)-- On Thursday, Phoenix Houses of NY/LI CEO Ann Marie Foster and Democratic nominee for City Council Chi Ossé will join together to call for fentanyl test strips to be made available for free at bars, clubs, and other nightlife venues across the city. The push -- which could include using opioid manufacturer settlement funds to pay for the initiative -- follows the accidental overdose of actor and activist Michael K. Williams as accidental overdose deaths continue to increase in New York City.
The event will also feature remarks from individuals who have experienced accidental overdoses, an individual who reversed an overdose using Narcan, and will feature brief trainings on how to use fentanyl test strips and Narcan.
